wot I did in my Summer Holidays
I spotted this beautiful piece of lace work whilst strolling around. It must have taken someone months to make, such skill.

I should have included this one in with the Golden Beach photos. This little abode was round by the fishermans quarters, it fits so well with the location.

wot I did in my Summer Holidays
At last I hear you cry, I have finally come to the end of my photos. Well not really it is just time for bed.
I couldn't possibly miss out these last one, where would a Greek holiday be without the photo of a cat or two.

Thank you all for the lovely comments. Tina you are so right, once visited, Thassos keeps a piece of your heart in order to make sure you go back and reclaim it. Just spoken to Val, and yet another old friend has just turned up out of the blue today. Sooner or later everyone has to return.

Oh, how I miss the Kendri.xxBrisola Budd hat geschrieben:After a hard days work, time for something to eat at The Big Tree as it was known and then over to the Kendri for a hard nights socializing. Happy days, happy days.

OMG Billy. I haven't seen him for about 4 years as I am always in Rachoni.Did you see Ilias? The old Island has changed quite a bit hey?Brisola Budd hat geschrieben:Heh Tina
I was sorely tempted to stay, but had two lovely girls waiting for me at home. No I didn't leave the children behind, before someone reports me, these are my lovely 4 legged girls who were being spoilt rotten by wonderful Bro.
We had a fantastic time, and I met up with all the expected friends plus ones I wasn't expecting to see. I have posted a few! photos which I think sum up my experience and shows what Thassos means to me. Mainly the people of course, who although 25 years older are still the same wonderful humans inside.
I did nearly cry when I got to Paradise Beach, parked car at top and walked down. OMG, one big umbrella and sun bed fest for the whole length of the beach. Took one look and walked back up to the car and drove on round to Tripiti, I was holding my breathe as I drove down the track, but thank God it hasn't been too over run. New hotel there and a few sun beds but it still has the essential chilling out feeling to it.
10 days came and went too quickly of course, it was rather too hot for us though, it reached 39 degrees for the last part of our stay. I haven't the faintest idea how I used to manage to work through similar temperatures in the 80's. I must be getting old, not a chance to do any mountain biking as hoped, so will have to go out much earlier or later next year when weather is cooler.

Wot I did in my summer holidays
Sorry Gardenia
I almost forgot, didn't see Ilias but did see New York Pizza George when went for a meal with Billy and family, he hasn't changed too much.
I hope the photos bought back some very happy memories for you too, especially the view of The Big Tree and The Kendri.
Don't forget to take some piccies yourself and post them on the forum. I shall be watching this space eagerly

Re: Wot I did in my summer holidays
Oh, I shall put up pictures of our lovely Thassos. 10 days to go. I am staying in Kavala the first day and night to visit friends and family then onto Thassos the next day. Were Bill's twins there when you were on the island? Does he still have his bike shop as I haven't seen him for three years? Nice to see your photo's and that you had a great time. Going to see Alison, Dianne, Cal, Sue and Catherine while I am over there while I am over there. xBrisola Budd hat geschrieben:Sorry Gardenia

Wot I did in my summer hols
Have you finished packing yet
Billy has an repair shop on the outskirts of town, just by the turning to Makriamos. Just like old times, still full of people just hanging around or bringing in every type of broken engine you can imagine. I met his lovely little son and girlfriend, plus his mother who actually remembered me.
10 days to go, I am soooo sooo envious, have a wonderful gossipy holiday with all the girls and I will be looking forward to the updates.
Meanwhile, I am in training for the London Bikeathon which is on the 16Sep, it is for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research, a really good cause as my Dad died of that back in 89. I must be off my rocker, 52 miles, so have been practising with long rides, repairing punctures and plenty of carb loading..i.e. the only sort there is CAKES, have found a really good source up on the North Downs but it is a top secret location otherwise everyone will decend.
